Bernie Dorsey
When back-to-school time rolls around, everyone in the family seems to get “back-to-busy“. As a parent, it can be difficult to balance your kids’ schedules, especially if one of your toddlers is potty training. But, if you make efforts to stay consistent when potty training, it can remain just as easy during these busy months.
To stay on track, I usually tell parents to:1. Keep a potty schedule.
Routine is a big part of successful potty training – it helps your child feel confident and secure. Keep a regular potty break schedule every day and share this with all the adults in your toddler’s life – from relatives to daycare providers.
2. Make potty time a team effort.
Children learn by modeling the behavior of others. Don’t be shy about an “open door“ policy at your house. Kids start to catch on when they see you or older siblings using the toilet.
3. Create a home field advantage.
Keep identical supplies, such as Pull-Ups® with Easy Open Sides, a potty chair and rewards at grandparents’ homes and at daycare, so your child feels at home everywhere they use the bathroom. Also, make sure that your caregiver knows exactly how your child expresses when its time to go potty.
